English Premier League side Manchester City is now officially the best payed club in the world above Spanish giants Real Madrid & Barcelona.
After the takeover by billionaire Sheik Mansour’s in 2008, Manchester City have become an global power house on and off the football pitch, with an average wage of a player playing in their first team being £5.2million a year.
City's highest earners such as Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez are among the highest paid sports personalities in the world, with £100,764 being the average wage of an first team player, £7,000 more than second placed American baseball team LA Dodgers' average. This was found in a survey conducted by Sportingintelligence’s Global Sports Salaries Survey (GSSS) for 2013.
City rivals Manchester United are placed 12th on the list with a £3.9m average annual pay (£75,423 per week) & Chelsea dropping to eighth, with an average annual pay of £4.1m (£78,053 per week).
La Liga club Real Madrid who are third and Barcelona fourth in the list, both have an average annual pay of about £4.7m (£90,500 per week).
