If you have been an avid transfer season gossip monger over the last few years you would know how keenly followed the non-football months are as well. Want away players linked being with clubs, clubs bidding for starlets, the negotiations, the trading of blows between negotiating parties all combine to give the transfer season an irresistible flavor of it's own.
But each year there are some transfers that take center stage as big players, big clubs and big money gets involved. Here's a look at some of the possible 'Mega-transfers' of the 2013 window :
1. Robert Lewandowski to Bayern Munich/ Real Madrid/ Manchester United/ Chelsea
One of the biggest movers this summer could be Dortmund hitman, Robert Lewandowski. The Pole has been prolific this season scoring 36 goals in just 48 games for the German club including a memorable 4 goal haul against Real Madrid. The striker has just one year left on his contract and though Dortmund might play hard ball with prospective buyers, they will surely look to cash in on their prized asset.
2. Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal/ Juventus :
Both Arsenal and Juventus are in the market for a top class striker and Higuain should be well within their budget. The 25 year old Argentinian has already announced that he will be leaving Real Madrid this summer and allegedly commands a 25 Million pound asking fee. With Higuain earning 125K a week at the Bernebau, he could be a cost-effective alternative to some of the other strikers on the move this summer.
3. Wayne Rooney to PSG/ Arsenal :
Another MASSIVE (no pun intended) striker looking to leave his club this summer is Wayne Rooney. The Manchester United forward handed in his transfer request a few weeks prior to the end of the season and is believed to be 'unsettled' at Old Trafford. It was a stop-start season for the Liverpool born Rooney, as he struggled to hold a place in Sir Alex Ferguson's side and was often used in a midfield role. Both Arsenal and cash-rich PSG have been linked with him but any move for Wayne may also revolve around his two children and celebrity wife Coleen Rooney.
