Transfer Window Watch : Who are Manchester United buying?

"The future's in the air. I can feel it everywhere, blowing with the wind of change."

Nothing could sum up the next few months for Manchester United like this Scorpion hit from the '90s. The final home match of the season, while United fans grieved Fergie's retirement, the fiery Scot addressed the Old Trafford faithful and bellowed 'Your job now is to stand by our new manager.' Enter, David Moyes.

One Scot to make way for another. Truth be said, it's almost a like-to-like replacement. But would it also mean a similar transfer policy? The first few indications suggest that might not be the case.

Moyes first went about changing the backroom staff. Assistant manager Mike Phelan and goalkeeping coach Eric Steele have already been axed with fan favourite first team coach, Rene Muelensteen expected to follow suit.

While this move might have ruffled a few feathers among the Old Trafford faithful, Moyes' next move (based on press reports), have been greeted with universal approval. United want a CM!

Unsettled Catalan, Cesc Fabregas is rumored to be high on Moyes' wish list. While it seems highly unlikely that Fabregas will snub a move to his beloved Arsenal if he wishes to return to England, stranger things have happened football. Take Robin Van Persie for example. Fabregas is set for crunch talks with Barca manager Tito Vilanova this week and both Arsenal and United will be watching closely. Look out for this one!

For those of you who don't know, Ezequiel Garay is a 26 year old Center Back plying his trade in the Portuguese League for Benfica. The Argentine defender has also played for Real Madrid in the past and has been on United's radar since quite a while now. With papers in the UK claiming a 17 million pound deal was done months ago, Garay might well turn out to be David Moyes' first Manchester United signing.

Kevin Strootman, perhaps the most missed piece in United's jigsaw could finally be making his way to Old Trafford this summer. The 23 year old Dutch international has been linked with United for years and is just the kind of influence that the Reds need in the center of the park. Mark Van Bommel playing the defensive role at PSV has meant that Strootman has played in a more attacking role this season and scored five goals. However, with the wealth of attacking talent at United's disposal, he might be preferred in a deeper, 'Michael Carrick' sort of role if he does make the move. Skybet suspended betting on Strootman moving to United a couple of days ago, however it does seem that the move was based on speculation that stemmed from Twitter. Whether or not he does move, Mancunia couldn't want him more!

Gareth Bale, perhaps the most wanted commodity in English football at the moment. The Welsh winger set the Premier League alight last season scoring 21 goals and assisting 4 while almost single handedly carrying Spurs into the top 5 of the table. While Real Madrid seem to be front runners for his signature, Manchester United have been long time admirers and could vie for his signature if they could stump up the cash.
